A challenge facing us all
- All of the world's 27 least developed countries in
the UNDP index are in Africa- 75% of Africa's population
is under 30.- Almost half of all African children are
not in Education. Most Africans leave school before they
are 12 years old.- Youth unemployment in Africa is at
crisis level - in many regions exceeding 80%.
Yet these young people are an untapped source of
energy and talent essential to the future development of
the continent.
our mission
The Friends of Africa Foundation brings together over
40 years of experience in youth development work in
Africa. Our aim is to empower young Africans (up to the
age of 30) by helping them develop sustainable
livelihoods through skills, enterprise and leadership
training and practical support for young
entrepreneurs. Linking up with established local
organisations, and making full use of new technology, we
are working to help unlock the potential of Africa's
youth, fostering a spirit of enterprise and
self-reliance.
